Clinical research
The Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases (IMN) brings together the driving forces of clinical (IMNc), preclinical and fundamental research in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. Since April 2014, all ambulatory activities (including the Parkinson’s Expert Centre of the Greater South-West and the Memory Research and Resource Centre, CMRR) and clinical research (academic and industrial) in the field of neurodegenerative diseases have been carried out within the IMNc.
The IMNc is dedicated to academic and industrial research on outpatients. The project is based on the desire to combine outpatient consultations in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders with clinical research. The key to the success of such a structure is that patients come on the advice of their doctor to take part in research at the IMNc. This organisation aims to optimise the transition from care to clinical research, which will make it possible to:
- Leverage existing academic and industrial research,
- Increase promotion capacity, inclusion potential and leadership in multicentre trials,
- Pool space, staff and equipment for functional and biological exploration as close as possible to the patient,
- To create an incubator in an optimised environment for the development of innovations based on the transfer of fundamental knowledge,
- To develop joint clinical research projects in cognition (Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders) and motor skills (Parkinson’s disease and related disorders),
- To promote and expand neuroimaging research, particularly in the field of cognition and Alzheimer’s disease.
